Although Alex Garland’s directorial filmography consists of exactly two films, his contribution to the science fiction-horror film genre should not be underestimated; like his directorial debut Ex Machina, Annihilation (2018) daringly explores nature’s and human’s frictious clash for control over the eternal—life, death, genetic variation, and a lack thereof.
